Islamic Fascists are "Jihadists"

Reader comment on item: "At War with Islamic Fascists"

Submitted by Topnife (United States), Aug 14, 2006 at 12:46

I think the term Islamist is too close semantically to the word "Islam", and will be confusing for the casual thinker. Consider calling them Jihadists, or Jihadis.

Walid Phares has observed that every Muslim knows the true meaning of "jihad" to be a war in the world, not in the soul. The effort of of the salafists is to establish a new worldwide caliphate, and their movement is a jihad. Muslims will understand the term immediately, and the rest of us will learn to differentiate between those Muslims who do not want to impose their beliefs on others, and the Jihadists who seek to enslave our bodies, and our minds.
