Influencing Muslim opinionReader comment on item: Winning the Propaganda War [versus Radical Islam] Submitted by Donald W. Bales (United States), Dec 27, 2005 at 19:32 The Russians had a religion of sorts, but it was secular. The Holy Writing was Das Kapital, its prophet was Karl Marx, its hero was Lenin. As such it did not have the appeal of a supernatural being such as Allah or the clout of the message from Allah that Mohammed was said to have received. Also the Communists did not have an ancient history of a Golden Age as the Muslims had about 1000. So the Muslims not only have the hope of the return of Muslim dominance, but they have the advantage of a religious revival in the Muslim world. The West, especially Europe and to some extent in the U.S., is in a post-Christian phase, and many people do not have any religious faith-much less any religious fervour. Maybe some anti-terrorist Muslims could be recruited to help craft a more promising approach to reaching the minds of some of the Muslims. It is my view that what the radical Muslims is doomed to fail, but it may take longer than the West can endure for it to fail from its own internal contradictions. It took seventy years for Communism to lose its luster. It still shines in some circles. Aren't there still Marxists in academia and maybe some covert ones elsewhere-say the extreme left wing of the Democrat Party?
