What is the practical implication of your solution?Reader comment on item: Winning the Propaganda War [versus Radical Islam] Submitted by N Hordes (United States), Dec 28, 2005 at 07:41 Neat "solution" but how is it PRACTICAL?If the Moslem world does not allow itself to read or listen to western sources, how do you propose to get the message about liberalism, democracy, women's rights, press freedom - all things we value but which traditional Islam and Islamists reject - across to leadership, masses or anyone steeped in that view? As we know, plenty of terrorist/islamists have been educated in western universites, exposed to "the best we have" and nevertheless, reject it in favor of their own narrow view of the world. Your original notion that reform of Islam has to come from within somehow, while difficult to imagine, seems far more likely to succeed than the west trying to push either wrinkle removers or democratic values. Not that we should not try to do the values-thing, but just be aware that it is as unlikely to be successful as the wrinkles approach. Depressing!
