I see now your questions. They were posted on your blog, but not to me. So, hard to answer.

You wrote :
Did you ever ask yourself why did Mu'awyya establish his capital in Damascus and not in Mecca or Medina and why did he have not an Arabic but a Syriac name? and why would he have a cross following his name at the Ghadra baths? Could it be because he had nothing to do with al-Hijaz Mecca and Medina included? and why did Abd al-Malik build the first monument in Islam (al-Masjid al-Aqsa) in Jerusalem and not in Mecca or Medina? And why would he want to see Jerusalem the destination of pilgrimage in Islam and not Mecca?

- Damascus as capital : of course, because Damascus was the capital of the arabic Empire. The story of Muhammad, with Mecca and Medina, has been written later. So, the Muhammad's friends went to Damascus to create their Empire. But this one dates very probably to 619, and not 661... The first dictators were Christians, Mua'wiya very probably also, but gave the total freedom. It began really with Abd Al-Malik.

- Abd Al-Malik built... No ! It is not because this is written on it it is true. Do you believe to all what is written on the North Korean official buildings ? Do you believe all what Donald Trump says ? This building is a construction of the religious, and Abd Al-Malik let it do only with some of his propaganda sentences added. Why these religious, syriac and hebraic speaking, talk to the Christians of Jerusalem in arabic ? This is stupid. But it could be explained if Abd Al-Malik demanded it. And Jerusalem because of some messianic understanding of the Bible.

- And why would he want to see Jerusalem the destination of pilgrimage in Islam and not Mecca? Because Mecca didn't exist. There is a graffito in Mecca showing its creation in 699. But the caliphs discovered Mecca only around 865, and the great pilgrinage was then created in Mecca. Very end of the Coran.
