Reader comment on item: Offer: $1 million for Finding "Jerusalem" in the Koran

When Caliph Omar went to Jerusalem he identified the Temple Mount as the Aqsa Mosque ( Prophet Muhammed already told his companions about the Journey) and prayed there.

"Adna al-ard" means to the lowest land (Jericho) not the "closest land".

Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiya was anti-Umayyad and so his testimony cannot be taken at face value.

I already explained that a mosque (Masjid) is any place of prostration or worship, not necessarily a building.

The Prophet arrived at the southern Mosque, and then ascended from the Dome of the Rock. You won't find 17:1 inscripted inside any other mosque.

Numerous Hadiths point to Jerusalem too. Only Jerusalem can be the place of the Night Journey according to the Quran, which is the ultimate word for Muslims. And again, this does not endanger Jerusalem's importance to Judaism.
