Traditional Jews have problems with Valentine's day tooReader comment on item: Hating Valentine's Day Submitted by Mo (United States), Feb 17, 2004 at 17:01 I generally admire Dr. Pipes for his great work, but am afraid he is wrong here. If you look into it (you can do a web search for 'history of valentines day' or similar), you will see that it has pagan roots, for one thing. Additionally, even if that were not so, even if it were only Christian, Jews might not want to adopt it. So I think it is wrong to fault Muslims for not wanting to adopt it due to its pagan roots. Take care and keep up the good work. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Lots of people don't care for Valentine - and manage to express this without resorting to violence.
