Reader comment on item: Hating Valentine's Day
in response to reader comment: Islam & Valentine's Day

It is a very popular dogma among Muslim readers and cementers regarding looking at the feelings of common people, they try to weigh every thing to religious culture. I have seen many comments of Islamic brothers saying that Valentine's day is un-Islamic. Okay, if this is the matter let us stop other things too.

Don't send greeting cards on any festivals, don't send birthday wishes, don't ask your singers to sing love songs, eliminate all love stories from the history, those are considered to be values of rich culture. I don't understand, saying any body "happy valentine day" has any ting to do with sex. Why my Muslim friends see every thing in sex panorama.

Because Valentine's day came out of west, it is against Islamic teachings and is misunderstood. I just ask, they way Islamic days are celebrated, are they according to Islamic teaching, like all Eids festivals, even Tayzia, mornings are not given in Holy Book, why Islamic groups don't stop these things? It is only because no Islamic scholar or Imam dares to give Islamic decree about that.

You know I tell you one thing, when cycle was first time brought to Saudi Arabia, the Islamic scholars, condemned this invention saying ‘it is a devils ride'. This state of affairs called hatred about west is in fact ignorance, and attitude to superimpose so called Islamic ideas, that have no base in the cultural values.
