Holiday Based On A Certain Christian Saint

People tend to forget that St. Valentine's Day is based on the life of a Christian saint who not only had died as a martyr, but also witnessed Christian men and women, often those whom you called the poor, give to each other vows in mariage to each other. The best thing about this special day is that for those who are married it is a reminder of their call to love each other each day. For those couples who are not married, the gentle reminder that love is showing respect for each other and commit to being married down the road. Hope this gives a better explanation.
