Muslim authorities are advising Muslim youth – males and females alike –to refrain from celebrating many non Islamic customs like v day without knowing its origin, whether it is permissible in Islamic beliefs or otherwise. These scholars believe It is a mistake to confuse what they call the day with what the real intentions are behind it.

The love referred to on this day is romantic love, taking mistresses and lovers, boyfriends and girlfriends. It is known to be a day of promiscuity and sex for them, with no restraints or restrictions…not permitted in Islam. Love in Islam is more general and more comprehensive; it is not restricted only to one kind of love, that between a man and a woman. here are many more kinds of love.

There is the love of Allaah, love of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them), love for good, and righteous people, love and support for the religion .In Islam, the festivals are clearly defined and well established, no additions and subtractions are allowed. They are an essential part of our worship and there is no room for ijtihaad or personal opinion. They have been prescribed for us by Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:"Festivals are part of the laws, clear way and religious ceremonies of which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): ‘To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way[al-Maa'idah 5:48]‘For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies which they must follow'[al-Hajj 22:67](Since in islam no one can command halal (permitted) and Haram(forbidden ) except religious scholars(ulemmas/muftis)., the source of such an order has to be quoted;the religious quotations and fatwa details quoted here can be read in detail from Islam Q & A where fatwa (religious advice/order) on the evils and dangers of St. Valentine's Day can be seen , the quotations are not my personal whims.
