Bush is no friend to Israel

Reader comment on item: Bush on Israel: Heartburn for All

Bush may stick to his guns.. But he does it even when it hurts the country. So perhaps its not so great. Like how about plunging a country into debt based on a tax cut that was formulated when there was a surplus? To Bush, changing your mind when others want you to change your mind is accepting defeat. He's more stubborn than committed.

Bush hasn't actually done anything to help Israel. Nor do I expect him to. He will pander to Israel as long as he is occupied with the Iraqi war b/c he needs at least one friend in the Middle East (since even Turkey isn't cooperating).
I hated what he had to say on the Israel topic before 9/11. He seemed incredibly anti-Israel at that point. After 9/11 he became more favorable towards Israel but that just seemed like good PR b/c after all its a democratic country being targeted by terrorism.

At this point he just seems to pander to Israel whenever its convienent. I haven't seen him actively support Israel two days in a row.
As soon as the Iraqi war is over and Israel isn't needed, Bush will dump his promises as quickly as he can.
Then Israel will be worse off than it was before.
