Arab war on Israel is religous and not political

This article by Daniel Pipes comes at a time when the next phase in the war is being considered. Once Saddam has been dealt with, then pressure will be on to 'solve' the Israeli-Arab war.

Most commentators in the press and on this forum advance various paths and roads, but all of them rest on commonly understood rational politics. I believe though, that the war on Israel is not political, but religious in nature. It is religion i.e., Islam, which guides people in that region and has first and only claim to their allegiance.

As the goal is not political but religious, then if ever Israel is destroyed, a Palestinian state will be formed only initially. It will though dissolve soon after and merge with the nations in that region. In the worst case, Syria and Egypt will fight for the spoils.

As it is clear by now to all and sundry, that Palestinians and Arabs alike, are interested only in the destruction of Israel, it leaves no other choice but for the annexation of Judea and Samaria to Israel and the Arabs in that region to be settled in Jordan.

A hard choice, but it is the only one between the destruction of Israel and a reasonable future for Arabs in that region.
