I Nearly Had Heartburn

Reader comment on item: Bush on Israel: Heartburn for All

Submitted by Marvin Diamond (United States), Mar 6, 2003 at 19:20

Dear Mr. Pipes,
I finished your column and put away the Tums, Zantac, Prilosec and milk of magnesia.
I wondered as I read it on what side of president Bush's duality you would come down.

Whew! I can breath easier, that is if you are correct in your assessment of him. I would be inclined to agree with you on more than one account. First, a man professing his fundamentalist fervor would endorse Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and would move the embassy there once and for all. Second, no man worthy of the presidency would disregard the duplicity of the chairman of the PLO and invest any more dollars to keep him in place. Before giving you heartburn, I'll close by stating that Israel is the most dependable ally of ours in that region of the world to say nothing of most of the world, and who else would battle test American weaponry.
Keep up the fight,
M.
