Reader comment on item: Bush on Israel: Heartburn for All

Submitted by Neil Abramson (United States), Mar 5, 2003 at 17:41

The apparent dichotomy in Bush`s comments on the mid-east war can also be interepeted as speaking softly and carrying the proverbial big stick. The U.S. in support of Israel has been closer than it ever has been in recent memory.Fact is the two countries are in reality allies fighting the same war!The real question that seems to be that is never mentioned in media comment is that the U.S.has become the only power to mass the overwhelming force it has brought to bear. This with a basically peacetime economy,no draft etc.The scale is of a new order. It has in large measure been brilliantly done this not with standing with the worn out, empty headed critics infatuated with their hubris. They still do not get it that their world view died on 9/11 as sure as the world of august,1914 did.
