The US " dualism " towards Israel is predicated on the false dichotomy betwen "real existing islam" which is virulently anti US anti Israel and anti semitic and the Islam of the university -and policy makers which is moderate, peacful, interested in negotations, discussions and meetings, like other 'rational political actors.

But Arafat and the myriad shadowy terroist groups behind him will never accept Israel as a legitimate state and wish to destroy it. Utterly,. Revenge, not peace is their policy.

Throughout the Middle East, Israel is regarded as "the Zionist entity' not as a nation state but a Western - Us political artifact. The establishment of Israel is refered to as 'The Catastrophe'. Every student of the region is aware of these descriptions but policy makers forget they form the basis of Palestinian resistance to Israel. This view is ceaselessly promoted in Middle east media and educational texts and is regarded as a self evident truth.

As Professor Sam Huntington wrote: Islam has bloody borders.' Indeed. Israel continues to have bloody borders as it is regarded by its enemies as a Jewish state which must be destroyed.

Until the synergy between Islam,Islamic terrorism and hatred of Jews is understood, and countered , US policy will remain 'divided,' betwen reality and fantasy, and terrorism and martydrom operations will proilferate and become even deadlier.
