I am not a pacifist by any means and I am not opposed to using military force as a last resort. However, I have to throw this out there. We are facing an enemy that does not represent any nation-state and does not use armies like in past wars. We need to fight these extremists, but we need to fight smart. Because this is an asymmetrical war, they are held to no standards or rules and we are held to all kinds of rules.

Again, I am not opposed to using military force in all circumstances. But I've been of the opinion that we need to do things not necessarily related to using the military that I feel would go a long way towards protecting the West.

We need good intelligence; if that means monitoring mosques, so be it. We need to ditch the PC nonsense and start acting like we are really in a war. After all, the Islamists have already declared war on us. If we need to restrict Muslim immigration to Western countries, then let's do it. When the "moderate" Muslims realize they are also paying a price for the actions of their extremist brethren, maybe they will begin to be more forceful in fighting against them. When they have purged the extremists from their society and are ready to join the family of man, then we can reconsider our immigration policies. We need to stop this nonsense of accommodation and appeasement to Muslims in our societies. When in Rome, do as the Romans. No more of this "multicultural" baloney. And the big one--more alternative energy; get off of the Middle East oil. Drill in our own reserves if need be for the time being.

In other words, I think a lot of our problems are self-inflicted. Less political correctness, less immigration to our lands by people who are basically hostile to Western values, more proactive intelligence gathering, less oil revenues for the jihad. Stop the invasion, ignore the demands to comply with Sharia for those who are already here. If we do these things, there will be less need to use the military. I'm not saying it won't be needed at all, but I think we can use non-military methods to put the kibosh on the jihad.

But, we need to be willing to do it, and with all of the PC nonsense in the world today where people can't even agree on what constitutes a terrorist, I don't hold out a lot of hope that it will be done.
