Costas makes some excellent points. The new enemy of free societies is islamic terrorism, and the only way it can be handled is with the utmost brutality, after all, that is how Arab leaders themselves handle internal islamic movements (black september I am not sure if taking out nuclear facilities in Iran and Pakistan is an option a this time, but as Pakistan becomes more and more a defacto ally of Al Quaeda, it may not be optional. Nuclear weapons must not fall in the hands of the radical islamists.

However I am skeptical of Al Quaeda being able to fulfill its timetable for moving its islamic agenda forward; although there are a lot of al quaeda cells in mexico, canada and latin america, these are not societies that will convert freely to Islam, as they are predominately Catholic and Christian and like the Hindus, very resistive to conversion. The public in the west has to be convinced of the threat; apologists are everywhere and this must be overcome. Unfortunately our western societies, with their bill of rights and tolerant attitudes, are perfect breeding grounds for spreading jihad ideology, propaganda and launching of attacks from within our own societies. Only when many more attacks on our soil have happened will people wake up and the apologists forget their tolerance.
