Reader comment on item: Islamists, Get Out

Submitted by John Giannasca (Australia), Oct 27, 2005 at 19:29

In your reply to A.A., you wrote

"A.A. stated:

Ayas 9.5 (slay the mushrikeens wherever you find them) and 9.29 (Fight the people of the book until ther convert or pay jizya humbly) abrogate all concilliatory gestures he made to non muslimss, jews and christians in earlier days.

My Response:

You are misrepresenting these verses. This much is clear. This is not the first time I have encountered someone quoting these verses. I am fully aware of how they are misquoted, misinterpreted and misrepresented, and am aware of their correct interpretations and applications.

Fighting in Islam is for self-defence ONLY!!!!

You are welcome to poo poo this and hold whatever views you wish to. It's your choice and I respect you for that. I won't blame you because I am aware of the evildoers who are carrying out violent acts in the name of Islam. So I fault them."

Please Shazia, what is your interpretations of the Ayas mentioned. They seem pretty clear cut to me. Remember that one of the things that muslims claim is that the Koran is the literal word of god not polluted by interpretaion.
I look forward to reading your reply
