Shazia, I only read quran and try to understand with the help of sahih ahadiths and authentic early days siras by Ishaq and Tabari. That is islam taught by quran and lived by Mohammed.
How could later day writers know more than those scholars about islam and sunna?
Quran says if you take disbelievers as friends then Allah will consider you one of them(5.51).That is very very clear in atleast a dozen suras.
Allah called them worst beasts (8.55).
Allah had turned them into apes and swines (5.60) Jews and christians are evil prople (5.59). Disbelievers are unclean (9.28)
They are evil and will dwell in hell forever(16.27-29).
Allah hates disbelievers(35.26).Disbelievers are lowest creatures (58.20).
Prophet (pbuh) hated disbelievers and said at his death that he did not want any religion other than islam in Arabia.

Therfore Shazia your beliefs may be politically correct but they are not according to quran and sunna.
