Reader comment on item: Islamists, Get Out

Submitted by Freelancer (United States), Sep 25, 2005 at 13:00

"Freelancer, your comments are typical of a Moslem living in a non-Moslem country"
they would be typical of any religious group should u try to oppress them. dont make it exclusive for Muslims. its exactly what the Jews said when they were persecuted by Hitler.

"that is why your words do not hold water. I would only believe you if you were a Moslem from Saudi Arabia or Pakistan or Iran etc and you said those same words."

so now i'm a liar simply because i am part of a minority? ... i have done and said nothing that shows me to be a liar. ...no, i have not heard of interfaith in any other country, but it doesnt mean that all Muslims are bad, or taht Muslims need to have their rights usurped. It means that the uneducated need to be educated.

"In case you and the majority of Moslems don't not know, freedom is a two way street, if you demand then you should also give."
and wat havent i given? have i taken away the rights of any? i condemn this, yet u blatantly put blame on me.

"Now, I am not personally holding you responsible for those crimes"
you just did several times, which part of ur response am i to believe?

so in conclusion, you believe that because bad Muslims are oppressing other cultures across the sea, its the American way to oppress others within your own country without any reason? it is YOUR duty and my duty, as an American to uphold social justice. You cannot punish Muslims in America because of Muslims in the middle east. ...

"Moslems have an uncanny knack of demanding your freedoms and rights when you come to the west, although you treat all non-Moslems in every Islamic country as second-class citizens and torture and kill them for practicing their religion."

first, i did not commit any of those crimes. second, when a person comes to this country, he/she shouldnt have to demand religious rights. this country was meant to be a place where one can be free of oppression due to religion. you are directly going against that meaning and the constitution.

"It is only when they are a minority that the virtues of freedom and secularism suddenly dawn on them"
Virtue of freedom is taught in Islam, if one is taught Islam in the correct way, he/she understands that, like most Muslims in the US. secularism has never dawned on me. i follow Islam as much as i can, im a Muslim.

"rather than sit on your hands and spout out empty platitudes to us non-Moslems."

its quite low to call someone a liar when you have nothing to prove against that person. re-read the consititution. religions oppression is clearly outlawed and it is illegal.
