Dr Pipes

This is just more information about Qasim Rashid's bogus article in the Independent and his little thesis that Islam is pro-women Just go and tell the Yazidi women in Syria and Iraq and let us have a laugh

Here is the article again

Notice that he does not quote the right verse So let me fix his mistake one time It is Surat al-Nisa' verse 1 not verse two as he claims

He wrote in the article: "Chapter four verse two (sic) of the Qur'an clarifies that women were not created out of the body of a man and women were created from a single soul and are of the same kind and species"

This is pure insanity If you read al-Tabari or Ibn Kathir or al-Qurtubi or al-Jalalayn you realize that this is verse about the Biblical narratives of the story of Adam and Eve (Hawa' in Arabic) and al-Mufasereen as usual fill in the gaps lacking in the Quranic narrative including that Allah created Adam and then created Hawa' from a left rib

Here are the four tafaseer

I must conclude that he must be saying that al-Qurtubi Ibn Kathir al-Tabari and al-Jalalyn are a bunch of liars and they are ignorant or Qasim Rashid has some explaining to do!

But again the response of the readers of the Independent to this bogus article speaks volumes that the worst enemy of Islam is not us kuffar but the likes of Mr Rashid
