islamic authorities must recognize the victims

Reader comment on item: Can Islam Be Reformed?

Submitted by myth (Germany), Jul 2, 2013 at 12:14

Should the Islamic authorities install a "Modern Synthesis" as described, would this be acceptable? To people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali it would not. While the synthesis delivers pragmatic solutions to the Islamic authorities, it denies the victims any recognition. Those victims share the experience how Islam brings poverty, pain and even death to their lives. The synthesis would desert those living in fear of Islam.

The Islamic authorities must recognize the victims. They must express shame, admit to guilt and some will have to accept punishment. Ultlmately these Islamic authorities must surrender their authority on social matters entirely and accept responsibility for their crimes in exchange.
