Reader comment on item: Spreading Islam in American Public Schools

Submitted by K C (United States), Feb 27, 2005 at 20:06

I believe that all major religions should be taught on an equally neutral basis. It is important that our students learn that there is more than one religion in the world, and they should be taught on a neutral basis including the positives and negatives associated with that religion. Unfortunately in today's PC world, nothing negative is published or taught at any public school about any minority race or non-western religion. Period. This is not healthy for any society and especially a democratic society that is based upon free and open debate. This country cannot solve its problems when debate is based upon incomplete information and dissemination of negative issues are not allowed under the aegis of political correctness that only allows negative discourse of the Judo-Christian religions and western civilization and society. Of course there are exceptions such as western socialism or communist ideologies. If there appears to be a pattern about what is given preferential treatment in our schools and media, then you are only showing your ignorance and most likely voted for Bush, making you irrelevant in today's public schools and the media in general. It is time for Americans to demand equal treatment of all religions and ideologies in our schools. Anything less is a disservice to our children and our country.
