Education Combats Ignorance

Reader comment on item: Spreading Islam in American Public Schools
in response to reader comment: Islam is a gang

Submitted by Ammar (Mexico), Jun 20, 2008 at 23:33

How many of you who have badmouthed Islam have actually taken the time to study it from various, credible sources? How many of you who have spoken against the Holy Qur'an have actually read it for yourselves? How many of you "Christians" have read your own bible? If you are truly a Christian, you would follow the teachings of Christ, as the MAJORITY of Muslims do (Jesus, is a great prophet of Islam). It is easy to call such a peaceful and righteous religion a cult when the media portrays it that way, and when you lack the desire to search and verify the truth of the matter.
Regarding the school, I agree that if what was mentioned truly was the case, being a public school, that the teacher (with good intentions) may have gone a bit far. Personally, I understand where the author of the original post is coming from - I would not want someone else's religious views imposed upon my son or daughter.
Peace,
Ammar
