Nation vs State of Israel

As far as this issue of Nation vs. State, it is interesting to note that in Hebrew, the words for Nation and State of Israel are one and the same- Am Yisrael. The word Am implies a people, a country, a nation, and a state, all in one. So using the term Am Yisrael one could be referring to the Jewish People or to the State of Israel, it's pretty much all the same.
