"When last did a politician ask the Lord to protect another country and not his own?"

But he didn't. He asked the Lord to protect America and only then (albeit in the same sentence) asked the Lord to protect Israel. You wrote it yourself, Dr. Pipes: "May God bless America, and may He bless and protect the Nation of Israel."
