Reader comment on item: Romney's Remarkable Speech in Jerusalem

Submitted by Phyllis (United States), Jul 29, 2012 at 15:57

The judgement of the U.S. and it's radical recent standing foreign policy concentrated on a war on terror has created a false hope in a vicious fight against a non tangible foe. The allusion of an enemy that stands physically against us may very well exist but it has channeled a miscalculation of long term effects. Although current alliances may not stand as formidable as they were after being created and set up by Britain after WWI, we now see a lost direction of foreign policy that guarantees no balance and off setting of powers in the Middle East. For whatever reason, recent past presidents of the U.S. have enabled a perfect storm for loss of stability in the region. I do not understand how fueling the Arab Spring and the Muslim Brotherhood Islamist control of the region has done the world a tremendous overall good. I do pray that sensibility returns to American foreign policy and that new alliances that form will create a much needed balance of power and ascertain the confidence and stability that the world needs in the coming decade.
