Very difficult since the Israel bashers would be entirely against this

Egypt will go to great lengths to avoid taking control of Gaza since Egypt, like most of the Arab and Muslim world (and much of the rest of the world), apparently like the status quo of having the Palestinians bleed Israel. Those wielding power in Gaza like the current arrangement too, since if they were truly part of Egypt they would lose their identity and billions in aid.

Would they still be able to support 8 children per family if they could no longer essentially get paid for firing rockets and being a "militant"? Given the level of international support for Gaza, no one could force the Palestinians to be annexed into Egypt.

On the other hand, if Gazans wanted to become part of Egypt, Egypt couldn't stop it. Maybe if Israel did a phased cut of all commercial relations with Gaza, and this was coordinated with the US tying aid to Egypt & Gaza to Egypt taking control, then, with EU support, perhaps it could work.

Bottom line is "Gaza to Egypt" will be difficult to accomplish since most people who most vocally complain about the situation and complain about Israel, would be staunchly against this. Personally, I support the idea and believe Israel and what friends she has should do what they can to accomplish this.
