For Cairo, Gaza is an Israeli problem. If there is going to be a state in Gaza, then it is an Israeli responsibility. This why the liberal Egyptians are reacting with near-hysterical alarm to the demolition of the border fence between the Gaza Strip and the Sinai.

They don't want Gazastan in Egypt.
