Gaza as a part of Egypt

Reader comment on item: Give Gaza to Egypt

Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Jan 29, 2008 at 19:51

The idea of Egypt absorbing Gaza is reasonable, probably to all concerned. Gaza under Hamas has no chance for a prosperous and recognized country. It will remain plagued by corruption and terrorism.

On the other hand, being a part of a much larger entity that has international recognition and history of reasonable relations with the rest of the world, Gazans have a chance to live better and safer than they live now .

Daniel pipes's idea should be seriously considered by US and Europeans who are the major donors of money for Palestinians. I am not sure if Egyptians will be very happy to deal with impoverished and militant part of Palestinian people. But helping financially Egypt would Make more sense than pouring money down the Hamas rat hole.
