I think the egyptian government knows it will get into trouble with israel if it accepts the responsibility of the Israel-gaza border .

So "no thank you" for that extra territory.

Giving gaza to Egypt will reduce the burden on Israel to police Gaza border because the Egyptians will be wholly responsible for the border. And under its peace agreement with israel, you know what that means.

Egypt is a formal state while Hamas is still unrecognised and unaccountable o its actions.

But i believe this move will not address the fundamental issues but will only amount to shifting the burden of security to Egypt.

A still better suggestion: leave Gaza to be an independent state from westbank.
