No difference between Islamists and Muslims

Reader comment on item: Intimidating the West, from Rushdie to Benedict
in response to reader comment: Islamist and Muslim

Vinodgupt, you asked : "Dr. Pipes,

In your response to Naimat Khan you wrote "Muslims are welcome, Islamists are not". Sir, who are Islamists and who are Muslims? How do you define the two and how are the two different from each other in their actions and beliefs?'"

In response to his answer, as I see it there is no difference between Islamists and Muslims. They one and the same. There are no Muslims who are willing to assimilate in the Western or any other non-Muslim societies. They will migrate to non- Muslim lands, will live here all their lives, they may show outwardly that they are willing to assimilate with others, but their ultimate goal is to convert or take over non-Muslims and their lands, period. So nobody should be fooled by this superficial difference between Muslims and Islamists. This difference is essentially a tool of PC crowd to aid, kowtow, soothe the Muslims.
