Absolutely hilarious

Reader comment on item: Intimidating the West, from Rushdie to Benedict

I really think it's quite funny the amount of websites there are that present Islam in bad light.

"We're not coming to any conclusions! Merely presenting facts! You draw your own conclusions! You are intelligent, we would never insult you by brainwashing you."

Not quite, the facts are presented in a certain manner which infer a certain idea - namely that lslam is inherently violent. I could set up a site which lists examples of violent and intolerant Christians. I could quote many a Pope's violent words. For god's sake, there even exist violent and intolerant Buddhists!!!

If the aim was to "present the facts", then why not list the 100-fold number of examples of Muslims doing good things? That's because there is an agenda, to make people hate Islam, to propagate the false idea of "clashed civilisations". Why?

It's because Islam IS the fastest growing religion. And that worries people like you. What if, in 50 years time, 40% of Americans were Muslim? How would this work in the democracy that Americans are proud of? What would Americans do if a Muslim president was democratically voted into power? Americans would either have to accept the Muslim president, or they would have to denounce democracy.

Both are clearly unpopular ideas, so the obvious solution is to slow down and reverse the spread of Islam, right? Unfortunately, people like them are not better than Muslims who spread hate. It is a form of brainwashing. Yes, they are presenting facts. But they are not presenting ALL the facts.

And this is why many Muslims get angry and over react, because they see what's happening, and unfortunately can't express themselves as well as I can. There are many ignorant people in the Muslim world. And ignorant people tend to behave inappropriately.

Islam is continually being presented as a centralised organisation, one which needs recruits. This is an understandable point of view, since when most Westerners think of "religion", they think of Catholicism. Now that is prime example of a centralised organisation, where more members = more money for the Vatican (which in case you didn't know, is the biggest land owner in the world). Islam has no such centralisation.

I repeat - there are scum everywhere. The east, the west, muslims, christians and jews. Pointing at the scum in one group is not "presenting the facts".And good luck on finding the truth....
