Islam's "glorious" past is centuries ago and while Islam's present is a combination of dismal failure politically, culturally and economically accented by the rest of the world moving quite rapidily ahead in all these areas.

Just compare China, exceedingly poor just decades ago and with its own population far in excess of the entire Muslim world's population and one can see the utter failure of Islam today.
