England does not have a Christian identity

in response to reader comment: What Christian identity ?

Submitted by Joe Keysor (Oman), Aug 30, 2006 at 04:17

What percentage of people in England believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, born of a Virgin, who died on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, rose from the dead, and will return as God to judge the world? That those who are forgiven for sins by faith in him can have eternal life in heaven? That we should try to live by the teachjings of Christ?

England's Christian identity began to decline in the 19th century, now there is almost none left. It is precisely because England is no longer a Christian culture that it is vulnerable to pressures from a new religion.
