Speaking of flawed "logic"Reader comment on item: Piggybacking on Terror in Britain Submitted by J.S. (Canada), Sep 5, 2006 at 14:26 I do not understand your post. What do demographic numbers have to do with anything? It's not the precentages of Muslims that's the problem. There was an incident of fundamentalist Islam -- back in the early 90's -- it was on some island -- the Muslims went on some rampage, in some failed attempt to overthrow the government -- they weren't successful -- the irony, of course, is that the Muslims which caused such havoc comprised less than 1 percent of the population. And, let us all recall, that a mere 7 such fanatics can with seeming ease murder close to 3,000 in the span of a half hour or so. Thus, your flawed logic would somehow suggest what precisely?? That we don't need to worry about Muslims unless they comprise 30 percent of the population or would that be 50? Now, that is, indeed nonsense. The problem is not about "numbers of Muslims." It's about the kinds of beliefs certain Muslims have (about their "values" or lack thereof), and how these beliefs are shared by a number of others (including Catholics and Protestants.) Do you understand what I'm saying? Also, I think that due to Political Correctnes, something else is rarely, if ever, openly discussed (it's tip-toed around). And that is this -- the religion of Islam -- and, no it's not "radical Islam" -- the religion of Islam has contained within it (in the Koran, in the stories, etc), elements of vicious anti-semitism. Anti-semitism is part and parcel with the religion of Islam. (There's a chapter devoted to Islam and Jew hatred in the book, "Why the Jews" by Pronger and Telushkin. Might want to take a glance at it.) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
