Look, while I'm for American patriotism, I don't think we all have to be English monoglots. In the 19th century, some of us sang "The Star Spangled Banner" auf Deutsch, while bilngual schooling was common up and down the Midwest.

Sure, we need English as a common language; but American patriotism can speak any tongue at home--why, we've even had a president who had English as a second language (Martin Van Buren).

I myself am proud of reading in four different scripts.
