Judeo Christian cultureReader comment on item: What Jewish Ties to Jerusalem? Submitted by true believer (India), Jun 28, 2006 at 08:43 Harrak, Some facts that I would like to highlight in response to your post.
Many Jews have rejected Jesus as their Messiah but all the Jews have also rejected Mohammed as their prophet. For Jews and Christians Mohammed is a false prophet who was not sent by God. So Judaism and Christianity have many things in common and there is a definite continuity from Judaism to Christianity. Islam had borrowed heavily from the Jewish and Christian holy books both in terms of content and style, but that is where the simmilarity ends. Islam which has its own set of rules, codes and practices which are totally different from what we call "Judeo-Christian" culture today. The term "Judeo-Christian" culture itself evolved in the US to include the Jewish element with the Christians and is not more that 100 to 150 years old, while the Jewish culture goes back to 3000 years. Christians on the other hand do not have a unique culture of their own, an Arab Christian will follow a different culture as opposed to a Portuguese Christian or a Christian in far-east even though they share the same faith.
