Isn't some of this related to their Religion?

Reader comment on item: What Jewish Ties to Jerusalem?

Submitted by J.S. (Canada), Jun 27, 2006 at 16:00

A few years ago I came across a travel guide (Fodor's, I believe). And I read that in Jerusalem (at the Dome of the Rock?) there is a spot whereby the faithful can place their hand, so as to feel an indentation in the stone -- and this indentation is believed to have been created by that buraq (the mystical horse-like beast) leaping up from the stones on that so-called "night journey" carrying the prophet to heaven -- furthermore, there's a cave which has also been created because the rock wished so much to follow the "prophet" on his "journey."

This is about as insane an account as I can imagine... Only lunatics could take seriously such utter nonsense...yet, this is believed (!!!). Never mind the fact that the "night journey" was a dream. never mind the fact that the Dome of the Rock did not exist nor was thought about until decades after the prophet's death. never mind the fact that inanimate objects cannot possess "desires." never mind the fact that imaginary beasts, such as a "buraq" do not exist.. On and on it goes...Just ludicrous. And then we wonder why it is the Muslim world is so backward, primitive, violently aggressive, and obsessed with conspiracy theories? It's due to the above-mentioned lies which are treated as "truth."
