Gaza pull out - or is it?

Reader comment on item: [The Gaza Withdrawal:] A Democracy Killing Itself

Submitted by Steven Feldman (Canada), Aug 19, 2005 at 15:03

Dan Gillerman, the Israeli ambasador to the UN, was on Canadian TV yesterday from Montreal. He reiterated what I believe to be the real reason all along. When asked what Israel will do if rockets continue to hit Israel, he stated that with the settlements gone, the IDF is in a much better position to hit back.

I agree, the settlements were soft targets, easy prey for mortars and shootings. By removing the soft targets, the IDF can use those forces, once used to gaurd 21 settlements and fully turn their attention to taking out the Terrorists. I see it this way, Sharon may be looking weak to most, but he is a cunning General. The Pali's won't get an airport or a seaport or even a overland route to the west bank..period. They won't get Jerusalem..ever.
