Irish-British comparison

I am suprised so many can comment on the Israeli-Arab conflict without reference to the conflicts between the Irish and British. For a long time, I have stated that Palestinian "Nationalists" operate more like a religious cult than a political movement. There is no Michael Collins or even Bob Sands to make worthy demands. Sharon knows this. Take the Palestinians seriously, give them a chunk a land, and they will turn it into an open sewer, which will send Palestinians fleeing.
By disengaging, Israel cuts off what attracted many Arabs to the area in the first place. The result is clear. If Gaza causes problems, Israel will just roll the tanks over it again.

Even if Palestinians had a Michael Collins, the Palestinians would never tolerate a civil war which happen in Ireland right after independence was granted.

I don't know what the emmigration records are for Palestinians leaving areas run by the Palestinian Authority, but I bet it is quite high.
