appeasement ?

Reader comment on item: [The Gaza Withdrawal:] A Democracy Killing Itself

Submitted by peter silver (Canada), Aug 15, 2005 at 09:39

Wrong word.

Total stupidity is better.

Since when does a country, striving to survive for almost 60 years, decide to cave in, so that "peace" will come easier. ( leaving with empty pockets in other words)

maybe to sophisticated worldly men, but to the Arabs ?

...What Arab country surounding Israel has ever given up one inch to Israel and not the other way around?

if you have a neighbour who says he will push you out of the neighbourhood no matter what it takes, do you say' i am leaving because he does not like me or in this case ,where your lives are at stake
you don"t appease, but you break your opponent no matter what it takes.
history shows it is the only way possible.

of course, one is not that gullible that Israel will stand aside as the emboldened Gaza killers continue to attack.
actually, it may be their plan to show the world and say " see, I gave them what they wanted and now it has cost us too much", so they go in and REALLY clean up the place, once and for all'.

I recall in 1960, an israeli said to me'"" every so many years we have to go and ...show force. that is all they understand "

I now see he was right !
