Rice is totally clueless about the situation, but Cheney is 10 times worse!

Reader comment on item: Bush Promotes a Palestinian "Right of Return"

Submitted by DrRJP (United States), Mar 31, 2008 at 16:50

I used to think that Sec. of State Condi Rice was the most clueless person in our government in regards to the Palestinian Arab-Israeli conflict...but I was wrong. Dick Cheney sounds more like Carter.

Cheney said a peace deal will mean "painful concessions" by both sides, and require the will to defeat those who are committed to violence and refuse to accept the other side's right to exist.

Israel has been the only one making painful concessions since both Gaza and the West Bank were ceded to Israel. The world is still calling Gaza "occupied" by Israel when, in fact, Israel never "occupied" any Palestinian territory. Period.

The two-faced Abbas will take the last statement to mean the US endorses the use of violence against Israel since Abbas has repeatedly said that Israel is committed to violence against Palestinians and it is Israel who refuses to accept "Palestine's" right to exist.

Abbas is a bigger fraud than Arafat was. He denies Israel's right to exist. He cites Israeli military operations and settlement expansions as the major deterrents to peace. That's the same garbage we've heard over and over again. Palestinians have none to blame except themselves. Not once have they given peace a chance -- because they do not want Israel to exist, either.

Settlement expansion? Hah! That is a bigger red herring than the "right of return." Israel has a right to expand existing settlements in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza, for a number of reasons, whereas, notice how nothing is said about the hundreds of thousands of truly illegal settlements made by Palestinian Arabs on Jewish-bought land.

Another cute comment from Cheney:

"Terror and rockets do not merely kill innocent civilians; they also kill legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Palestinian people."

Duh?? Talk about a bizarre comparison!

The " (il)legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Palestinian people are to eradicate Israel and replace it with another, illegitimate Arab state.
