Reader comment on item: Bush Promotes a Palestinian "Right of Return"

Submitted by Jay (United States), Jan 15, 2008 at 00:27

I dont believe George Bush has suggested a return of Palestinians to Israel. It is the term simply used to be settled in a final deal.

It is ridiculous however that its still called an issue to be settled. The settlement will be Palestine for Palestinians,Israel for Jewish people. If the Palestinians or anyone brings up the issue in a different vein, theres no sense staying in a negotiating room. No sense what so ever. What does disappoint me about George Bush is that after 8 years, the President cant figure out how to demand to the Saudis that they establish relations with Israel as the Palestinians have.

Are the Saudis more Palestinian than the Palestinians? Did President Bush ask that any arms sales to the Saudis must simply include establishment of relations with Israel? Is President Bush,Condi Rice and our current state department incapable of swaying Saudi Arabia and little Kuwait to be on par with Jordan and Egypt and the Palestinians and shake the hands of the Jewish state?

Forgive me,but the days of Thomas Friedman op ed suspense is over. This is little league stuff boys. And it doesnt bode well for the United States.
