Bush has merely returned to America's default position on Jews and Zionism. Roosevelt ,the president ,American Jews ironically worship ,said -'"We will help the Jews by winning the war" and ,otherwise ,did his best to impede every effort to help the Jews in Europe.

Truman ,as a sop to his Jewish former partner, lent his support to the founding of the Jewish state then put an embargo on the arms sales that could have assured Israel's survival which Truman and the State Department believed was not in America's interest. Eisenhower forced Israel to give up the strategic assets it had acquired in the 56 war.

Israel became America's ally under Jhonson only after Israel's triumph in 67 - and onlly after Degaulle' sold Israel out for influence with the Arab states.

Apart from Nixon -all the succeeding presidents used Israel's increasing isolation and dependence on political and military support from America to extract concessions that were inimical to Israel's interests, and may in the end prove fatal.
