Can we expect muslims to support the destruction of their religion?Reader comment on item: [Moderate] Voices of Islam Submitted by Peter J. Herz (Taiwan), Sep 23, 2003 at 20:06 Ibn Warraq is not a "moderate" Muslim: he is a secularist who descends from Muslims, just as Rousseau, Voltaire, Schopenauer, Feuerbach and the like are anti-theists who descend from Christians; and Marx and Freud were secularists whose antecedents were Jewish.Given that, at least in the period from ca. 1950-1980, good secular liberals and their "moderate" Amen Corner seemed to roll over and play dead whenever their radical despisers told them to, do we Westerners really expect any Muslim who values his religion to emulate our "moderation"? Do we really expect them to want the blessings of free abortion, homosexual marriage, and other kinds of moral decay that our "enlightened" forms of pseudo-Christianity support?
