The Tyranny of the Professors

Reader comment on item: Profs Who Hate America

Submitted by Professor Joshua Hoffman (United States), Nov 15, 2002 at 17:42

I have lived and worked among professors for 30 years. One of the maddening things about the left-dominated faculty today is their intolerance for any disagreement with their ideology, and a mind-boggling hypocrisy. For example, there is an insistence that the university seek "diversity", by which is meant racial and gender diversity. But intellectual diversity, which one would think would be the most important kind to have on a campus, is not only not a goal of the left-ideologues, it is actively thwarted by their intolerance for disagreement. Recent polls show that at all of the preeminent universities, liberal/left loyalties run in the 90% range. So much for diversity.
