Reader comment on item: Profs Who Hate America

Submitted by Rasheed Abou-Alsamh (European Union), Nov 13, 2002 at 08:33

To say that these professors hate America just because they dare publicly speak out on America's ulterior motives in invading Iraq and overthrowing Iraq is wrong...

It's hardly a secret that economic interests power American foreign policy. Iraq has enormous oil reserves, and the US gov't and US companies are dying to get their hands on it. All this rhetoric about democracy and freedom is baloney since the US hardly ever practices what it preaches overseas. The few times that it has was when it also suited the US economically to do so.

For sure, Iraq's supposed weapnos of mass destruction could pose a threat to the US if Saddam had global ambitions, but the Bush administration has completely failed to prove any link whatsoever between him and Al-Qaeda. Neighboring Gulf countries are much more at risk than the US ever would be.
