On Philistina

Reader comment on item: Profs Who Hate America

The Palestinians are not Philistines, they were not a people ever. There is and has never been a culture, language or tradition of Palestine. The Romans named the area Philistina as an insult to the Jews and for no other reason than that.

You can argue this point for eternity but the fact remains that every modern country in the world is an amalgam of conquered or absorbed people. To ignore this is pure sophistry and in the case of those that now call themselves Palestinians it is even worse as the Arab world uses their own cast off peoples to defame a people that has not openly attacked a bordering country in more than 2500 years.
