The Persecution is Real

Reader comment on item: Profs Who Hate America

Submitted by Denice Gary Pandol (United States), Nov 13, 2002 at 14:12

I was teaching courses in the Political Science discipline - specifically an introductory course on international politics - Middle Eastern affairs - my area of specialty.

Three (3) Muslim students complained that Mrs. Pandol referred to Islamic militants as "terrorists" and related other incidents in which factual material provided during the lecture was somehow anti-Muslim statements.

As a result, I was not invited to continue to teach the three courses I had been teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Bakersfield College, as a result of such complaints.

At Cal State University, Bakersfield, it seemed an adjunct opportunity was close to materializing, however, after being involved in a public forum / debate with Muslim leaders in Bakersfield - I was not "invited" to come teach at that university.

I understand from a student that one of the Political Science professors at Cal State University, Bakersfield went so far as to suggest that Israel has no right to exist! And therefore, the United States has a failed foreign policy approach in the Middle East due to our support of the only democracy in the region, Israel. I guess after the numerous articles I have written in the paper, one of which specifically defended Israel's right to defend herself against terrorist attacks together with the United States, it's no wonder I am continually shunned by the academic community and have no teaching opportunities although my student and faculty evaluations have been exceptionally good.

Yes, many faculty members at universities and colleges not only hate America but Israel as well! It has proved impossible in this community to get a career off the ground after standing up with well-documented, factual information on issues related to the United States and Israel and their contributions to peace and security for freedom-loving people the world over, and secure employment!
