Reader comment on item: Profs Who Hate America

Submitted by Evan Cowart (United States), Nov 13, 2002 at 19:22

I do greatly appreciate your continuing effort to shine the light of reason on the middle eastern situations. After 9/11 I watched FOX drag one American hating, leftist leaning muslim after another into their studios. I tended to mute the TV rather then listen to their standard propaganda. After a month or so of this, I sent a rather terse letter to them asking if they could at least bring you in as a voice of reason. A few weeks later you showed up and they have gradually cut back ... I doubt that I was the reason they put you on; they probably had a lot of people asking for you. I am thankful you are out there, and shining the light of reason on the whole mess.

I read an article by a famous, elderly French leftist lady (her name escapes me; I think she's also terminally ill). She commented that the only difference between a moderate muslim and a radical is the length of their beard. I think it is not that bad, but it struck my funny bone, especially coming from a French leftist. Is French and leftist a redundant statement?

As to muslims in general, they are a bit of a question mark in my mind, but most of my doctors are from the middle east, some second or third generation, while other are first generation. If they don't actively oppose my country and I am not aware of any anti american bias, then life goes on.

Thank you again for your efforts.
